Canadian Comedy Award and East Coast Music Award nominees, Chuck & Albert, are no strangers to the art of total entertainment. Multi-instrumentalists, great physical comics, and fluently bilingual, this Acadian duo has played to standing ovations both at home, across Canada and overseas. Their performances bring to life an energetic blend of visual humor and quick wit combined with the upbeat foot-stomping music and dance of their indigenous PEI Acadian roots.
“One great night of entertainment.” Charles Mandel - The Guardian
Chuck and Albert Arsenault are well known as remarkable
showmen and emcees, delivering absolute
entertainment in both of Canada’s official languages:
French and English – and both of Canada’s
un-official languages: comedy and music. As members
of the Acadian group Barachois, a mainstay on
the Folk/Roots touring circuit for nearly a decade,
they developed a distinctive brand of traditional
Acadian music and showmanship and performed
roughly 2000 shows. Their music was considered to
be at the forefront of the genre and was a rhythmic,
high-voltage style born in the heart of a culture kept
alive through 2 ˝ centuries on PEI.
What the heck do they do?
Much as the elements of Acadian culture have been
passed down from generation to generation,
Multi-instrumentalists, great physical comics, and
fluently bilingual, Chuck & Albert bring to life an
energetic blend of visual humor & quick wit
combined with the upbeat foot-stomping music &
traditional dance of their PEI Acadian roots.
the show’s objective is to present Acadian customs
and traditions in an entertaining and authentic way.
Most of the material Chuck & Albert perform is
learned from local singers, fiddlers and historians;
as well as original instrumental and vocal compositions
in the traditional style. The pair is also quite
gifted at drawing on one of the oldest forms of
communication, laughter, to hop over any language
barrier. It is in this communal spirit that Chuck and
Albert skillfully and tastefully carry to the concert
stage the vibrant characters, songs and traditions of
their Acadian heritage.
Having toured in over 15 countries worldwide
Chuck & Albert have seen it, done it, and in a lot of
cases, fixed it! Chuck & Albert will gladly work with
presenters to meet the language, entertainment, and
hosting requirements of your community, festival,
school, or event.
From their unique cultural vantage point, these
Island Acadian funny-men deliver clean creative,
musical, family entertainment. Chuck & Albert believe
two things: that every situation, no matter how
grim, will be happily resolved; and that Chuck, who
is forty years old, will never be able to do his own
laundry.
The IOAA is planning a fantastic new year. We have some great preformers coming
into our communities, and plans are underway for hosting our Second Annual Artists
Retreat for Ladies in September 2010.
Planning is in the process and we will soon be sharing this
excitment with you. Visit back for more details.
